1. Fine-tune the settings on your computer. Operating systems such as the Windows XP, Windows 7 and Mac possess a number of security settings. The Internet browsers Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari also have many settings. Always make certain your settings meet your individual security needs.
2. Pay attention to security and software updates. Your operating system will deliver updates on a regular basis to guard your computer against viruses and other security issues.
